Biography/Artist Information:

Painter, muralist. Born in NYC in 1860. Sewell studied in Paris with Lefebvre and Boulanger. His known works include landscapes and coastals of California. He maintained a studio home in Oyster Bay, NY and died while vacationing in Florence, Italy on Nov. 18, 1924. Member: ANA; NY Arch. League; Century Assn; Union League Club; Lotos Club. Exh: NAD, 1889 (prize); Boston, 1891 (medal); Pan Am Expo, Buffalo, 1901 (medal); Louisiana Purchase Expo (St Louis), 1904 (medal). In: St Regis Hotel (NYC); Sweat Memorial (Portland, ME). & AAA 1924
