Biography/Artist Information:
A society portraitist, Ercole Cartotto was well known in New York City during the early part of the 20th century. He was born in Italy and immigrated to America where he studied art with Frank Benson, William Paxton, and Edmund Tarbell. He was a student at the School of Botson Museum of Fine Arts. He was selected to paint four portraits of United States President Calvin Coolidge.
